Biography

BHealth&LifeCarol D. Schaefer is an active participant in the worlds of mental health, medicine, education, and culture.  Before retiring, Carol was a practicing psychotherapist in Ridgewood, New Jersey, working with families, individuals, and parenting groups. She continued her work as a clinical instructor at the Yale Child Study Center, part of the Yale School of Medicine, where she supervised and taught postgraduate fellows. She is currently on the Executive Council of the Associates, a leadership group at the Yale Child Study Center.  Additionally, Carol serves on the boards of Ramapo College, the Hackensack University Medical Center, the New York Philharmonic, PerDev, and the Little Orchestra Society.  Whether through psychotherapy, fundraising, or philanthropy, Carol has always sought to make a difference and have a meaningful impact, particularly for students, doctors and patients, and fellow lovers of music.
